About the Department

Energy Portfolio Management's aim is to create value for SSE group and its customers by providing wholesale energy market expertise and market access. A core part of this is managing internal and external contracts.

What is the Role?

The Energy Contracts team within EPM is responsible for originating, evaluating, tendering and managing all internal and external wholesale energy and green product contracts. The team are key to the core commercial operation of EPM and to the growth strategy of the business.

As Head of Energy Contracts, you'll manage EPMs large internal route to market contracts with Renewables, Thermal, E&P, and the Customer businesses. You will also be responsible for finding new customers and market opportunities to grow the business. This will include origination of wholesale energy and green contracts, and the pursuit of opportunities in new markets such as distributed energy.

You'll bring the leadership skills required to develop a high performing team of around 10 people who are engaged and motivated to deliver.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include;

- The negotiation and management of Master Service Agreements between EPM and the SSE Intra-group companies.

- Lead in the origination of new market opportunities energy and green markets.

- Lead market and counterparty intelligence reporting, including fundamentals analysis on supply chain as well as portfolio analysis.

- Produce and present Executive standard market and trading reports and presentations.

- Create conceptual business plans and proposals with the ability to create compelling business cases to gain buy in and approval.

- Produce detailed delivery plans to monetise commercial opportunities and establish, maintain and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

What do I need?

You'll be a highly motivated and experienced business leader, with a proven track record of identifying and creating commercial growth opportunities within the Energy Contracts area.

You will demonstrate a passion and expertise for the Wholesale Energy and green markets and you will have experience of negotiating and managing contracts in this area. You will be at the centre of us achieving our ambition, so you'll need to inject leadership, passion, energy, insight, pace and rigour to drive our business forward, and take responsibility for delivering results.
