About the Department
Our SSE Finance function has a key part to play in fulfilling SSE's obligations as a UK-listed company, providing expertise and services that can be shared across the SSE Group, and working in partnership with all businesses to provide services tailored to their specific needs. SSE operates in a highly regulated and increasingly competitive environment, and our role is to ensure that we gather, compile, analyse and recommend on the financial strategy for our businesses, identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies and create value for SSE now, and in the future.
What is the Role?
Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, the Group Accounts Payable Manager will work to drive collective improvements to the provision of Financial Operations in SSE and will also sponsor continuous improvement initiatives to improve the performance of the AP division against divisional KPIs.
They will drive improvements in the Procure to Pay cycle in partnership with Procurement colleagues and ensure that the function is compliant with Group wide obligations under initiatives such as the Prompt Payment Code and Anti-Financial Crime regulations.
The Group AP Manager will ensure that onboarding of further activities is undertaken effectively and efficiently. Responsible for operational management of the AP function, the GAPM will ensure that the function is fit for purpose to support the payable activities of a Plc of SSE's size and scale.
The Group AP Manager will also have responsibility for ensuring control and governance through: documented procedures and processes, segregation of duties, identification and management of risk and a clear Assurance Framework for the function
What do I need?
We are looking for someone with a background in a high performing service centre specifically including Accounts Payable. They must have sound knowledge of the control environment required in an AP function and have a clear track record of leading and delivering continuous improvement projects.
The Group Accounts Payable Manager will be numerate and organised with a track record of delivering quality work at pace. Risk aware, they will have a sound understanding of control and governance and will have the skills to enforce these robustly across the team. A confident and skilled communicator they will be able to interact and influence with a wide range of stakeholders.
Using their significant management experience, they will be able to influence positive behavioural change across their 2 Direct and 48 Indirect reports and will be skilled at creating a culture of sharing best practice and continuous improvement.
