About the Department

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.

What is the Role?

SSE Transmission is currently recruiting for a Governance & Assurance Officer, to play a pivotal role in driving high levels of compliance and assurance in SHE Transmission by acting as a coordination point to support cross business activities to implement governance and regulatory obligations across the organisation.

This encompasses business leadership of several crucial areas including ensuring awareness and adherence of SHE Transmissions licence obligations and associated business assurance requirements; supporting business separation requirements and the prohibition of cross-subsidy; development and implementation of governance controls, assurance and risk management necessary to achieve efficient and compliant business operation and ensuring that end-to-end processes are governed across the organisation to efficiently deliver optimal performance for our customers and stakeholders.

You'll work closely with your colleagues in various departments to ensure all required elements are captured and being carried out effectively. This is a good opportunity to also learn and understand more about our Ofgem requirements, and how we develop business plans to support these requirements in our projects.

What do I need?

To ensure you get the most from your role, and our customers receive the highest standard of service, we ask that you hold a qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in a similar role.

You will have a demonstrable understanding of the Energy industry and the nature of our market.

Your role will involve liaising and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, therefore it is crucial that you have excellent communication skills, along with outstanding organisation and customer relationship skills.
