Marchwood Power Station began commercial generating electricity in December 2009. The station plays a key role in the UK energy market delivering up to 900MW of high efficiency power capability, as well as multiple ancillary services to support the national grid. Electricity produced is enough to supply nearly one million homes.
What is the Role?
Marchwood Power Limited (MPL) is looking to hire a General Manager. As the General Manager, you will report directly to the board of directors and you'll be responsible for the overall success of the business and representing the common interests of the shareholders.
You will lead the MPL management team with collective accountability for MPL business performance including development of strategy, planning and safety culture. You will oversee the development, communication and implementation of the budget and 5-year business plans with agreed KPI's.
Further to this you will manage several key relations including suppliers, the toller, regulators, and investors. You will be responsible for the public stakeholders and dealing directly with local and national agencies.
You'll champion the understanding of MPL's Quality, Health, Safety and Environment management system and ensure that necessary plans, policies and procedures are in place to enable a fast response at all times. You will ensure the Plant is operated and maintained so that it can meet all production requirements within technical and contractual limits.
What do I need?
You will be an experienced Power Generation Professional with a strong operational background, commercial acumen and be a proven SHE ambassador with exemplary stakeholder management skills.
Outstanding strategic leadership skills will be essential, and you'll have a track record of achieving results from teams and external suppliers including improving asset integrity & reliability. Demonstrable competence of managing significant budgets and contracts with key suppliers is also necessary.
