About the Department
Our SSE Finance function has a key part to play in fulfilling SSEs obligations as a UK-listed company, providing expertise and services that can be shared across the SSE Group, and working in partnership with all businesses to provide services tailored to their specific needs. SSE operates in a highly regulated and increasingly competitive environment, and our role is to ensure that we gather, compile, analyse and recommend on the financial strategy for our businesses, identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies and create value for SSE now, and in the future.
What is the Role
An opportunity to join the Renewables Financial Control team, specifically focusing on Capital Projects.
SSE Renewables is beginning construction on Seagreen and Doggerbank windfarms which total 4.7GW and over £10bn of capital expenditure, and are some of the largest offshore wind assets planned to be built in the world. In addition SSE Renewables has ambitious growth targets for offshore and onshore wind farm development in the UK, Ireland and internationally.
The role is to be the Finance Manager for Capital Projects which will oversee all elements of Financial Control - Month End, Balance Sheet reconciliation, year-end audit, year-end statutory accounting and management accounting, supported by a small team. Due to the nature of investment and acquisition there is a high volume of ad hoc work to support on the transactions and set up the projects and companies post-completion. Any experience of this will be of benefit.
Reporting to directly to the Financial Controller, you will work closely with our Commercial Finance team and other stakeholders include our colleagues in the Capital Projects business team, Group Finance, Tax, Treasury and other Corporate Functions.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about working in the energy industry and will bring fresh thinking and ideas to the role and wider Finance team. You must have PQE experience from a recognised accounting qualification and experience of working in a complex organisation is beneficial
What do I need?
- Accounting qualification with PQE experience
- Proficient in MS Office applications particularly excel
- Knowledge of SSE equivalent systems, processes and workflow technology
- In depth knowledge of ERP software (Oracle desirable)
- Experience working in client service
