What is the Role
Due to significant growth, the SSE Enterprise Telecoms division is currently recruiting for Fibre Network Engineers to join our Fibre and Records Team to help support the UK wide network.
This role involves you leading a team of onsite engineers and working with our Network Architects on future network designs while also providing analysis and reporting on network performance. Your will role will be to determine, repair and rectify network faults in a live environment and during planned network outages. We also require all members to be part of a callout team which will cover 1 week in 5 to cover all out of hours works.
As Fibre Network Engineer you will also work closely with other teams within Telecoms on IP, MPLS AND DWDM.

What do I need?
As Fibre Network Engineer, you will have broad network exposure and experience of working within a Telecoms NOC environment. To be successful in the role you should have knowledge of the following systems:
Fibre optic installation methods and testing techniques (OTDR/ILM, PMD/CD), Microsoft suite (Visio / Access / Excel ) and GE Smallworld/GIS experience.
Higher network functions and knowledge of the OSI stack to determine, repair and rectify network faults in a live environment and during planned network outages is a requirement for the role as well as leading a team of onsite engineers day or night.
IP, MPLS and DWDM knowledge and skills would be useful as you will be working closely with other teams within Telecoms on these platforms.
You should also have a CFCE qualification or equivalent in Fibre characterisation and testing. Optical qualifications in CWDM+DWDM would be highly beneficial.
You will be flexible, committed and a self-motivated team worker, with excellent communication and organisational skills, including prioritising workloads. You will have good analytical skills with the ability to work on your own initiative but also act as a key team player.
