What will I do on the programme?
Working within a diverse, dynamic and growing business, you'll have the chance to learn about commercial management, proposal preparation, business development, bid and project management and business sector support. With opportunities across our Commercial and Business Development teams you'll experience the end-to-end process from bid preparation and submission, right through to contract award, contract execution, and ultimately asset management.
Major Projects - Overview
Major Projects work across all the Distributed Energy sectors to assist on identified and specific projects that require a wider breadth and more resource than your regular project. The focus is on a consideration of projects of high value, involve multi-technology requirement and or high complexity, or something with high strategic relevance for Distributed Energy. Major Projects could have build timelines of over 10 years, so providing an appreciation of the scale of projects. Projects of this size require a specific and dedicated core team to manage, however also need to work collaboratively across the wider Distributed Energy matrix teams for assistance to win and deliver the project. Major Projects core skill requirements include, commercial, contract, bid, programme and project management.
What do I need to join?
For this programme, you'll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 degree in an engineering or related science, business planning, commercial, finance or related degree discipline.
We'd love you to have practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for business, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.
You should have an interest in the energy sector, and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us - as we are with you.
