Energy Customer Solutions is the face of SSE to our customers in GB and Ireland, providing leading and reliable B2B services as well as leading retail solutions for our B2C customers.

What is the Role?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Energy Theft Advisor to join our team. We are looking for a passionate, attentive and work-driven candidate who wants to be part of an evolving team within Business Energy.

This job would suit an individual who likes to investigate and follow an investigation from start to finish. If you like helping people, you pay attention to detail and like to learn new things then the Business Energy Theft Team would love to have you on board.

You need to communicate clearly, you should be able to explain complex situations to an engineer or customer and be able to communicate comfortably in writing and on the phone. You should be analytically minded and capable of reporting your key messages and findings in a complex environment. You will also be expected to have a good knowledge of the energy industry for both fuels and be aware of the latest regulations.

Key Accountabilities

- Investigating and resolving critical problems

Investigating and resolving queries regarding potential theft/tampering with a high standard of attention to detail. Reporting key messages and findings in a complex environment.

- Handling customer queries

Communicate in writing and on the phone with both customers and external agencies. Monitor and respond to incoming customer queries, personally resolving straightforward issues in accordance with company policies and procedures, and escalating others as appropriate to ensure that are responded in a timely manner, and to minimise the risk of customer complaints.

- Developing system knowledge

Ability to use a wide functionality of the Customer Services computer system to directly answer customer queries. Also, need to be familiar with industry flows and with the systems are managing these.

- Managing operational productivity

Take responsibility and accountability for personal performance and effectively completing tasks, have the ability to manage own workload. Consistently meet deadlines in a pressurised environment, whilst confidently adapting to priority changes.

- Observing health and safety

Challenge any unsafe act, follow company practices and procedures and ensure that requirements are complied with in order to drive safe working practices for oneself and others within the team. Demonstrate the 5 Golden Safety Rules and the 5 Golden Security rules at all times.

What do I need?

- Knowledge of energy industry and regulations

- Understanding of Customer Service

- Understanding the regulations around energy theft

- Analytically minded, problem solver

- Confident using Microsoft Excel

- Excellent attention-to-detail

- Ability to work as part of a team or on his/her own initiative

- Good time management skills

- Demonstrable logical / critical thinking skills

- Self-motivated
