About the Department
EPM & Investments aim is to create value-adding energy trading services for all stakeholders and external customers by providing superior returns and diversity of fuel supply through financial gas investments that are aligned to SSEs risk strategy. EPM & Investments also offers insight to support the SSE PLC portfolio, while supporting financial investment with well-managed exploration activity.
What is the Role
As an Energy Risk Analyst, you will solve a new problem every day: how to optimise the dispatch of a power station, value a gas storage site, model how renewable output changes with weather patterns and calculate the variability in SSEs energy market revenue to name a few. No day is the same in this exciting and dynamic team.
You will learn how the GB electricity and gas markets operate, understand how trading is used to stabilise revenue, all while developing your knowledge across many different disciplines. In this role you will be working in an industry at the forefront of tackling climate change.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will have relevant experience in the energy or financial industries. You will know your way around a spreadsheet, have an eye for detail and have the ability to understand and model complex processes. You will have good interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
You should be fully aware of the accounting and regulatory classification pertaining to energy commodities; have strategic awareness of the energy industry and be a highly analytical thinker with the ability to distil complex information and communicate on a variety of levels. You will be comfortable dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders within the company and effective in building strong working relationships with other business areas.
