What is the Role

SSE Hydro Generation operates and maintains over 1000MW of Hydro Generation and associated infrastructure. Our Operations and Maintenance Teams are responsible for the operation and maintenance of our Hydro Generation assets. We currently have an opportunity for an Electrical/ Multi Skilled Craftsperson to join our Hydro Generation Operations and Maintenance team based at Clunie Power Station, Foss, by Pitlochry PH16 5NF.

The multi-disciplined team based at Clunie are responsible for the day to day operation, maintenance and repair of our Hydro Generation plant to ensure it is kept in a safe and efficient state.

You will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance activities plus mechanical and civil works within your competence.

You will be involved with other maintenance personnel in day to day rectification, repair and designated project work.

You will also be involved in carrying out routine inspections and checks to ensure our equipment and fixed plant is at a high standard of operational effectiveness.

You will communicate with other team members and report operational defects as they arise, you will carry out risk assessments, plus environmental and safety inspections and will receive training to operate and isolate fixed generation plant.

What do I need?

To be successful in the role, you will be a practical person with the ability to work a part of a team and be able to communicate effectively as you will be interacting with the public and people at all levels of the business, you will be required to work with other teams in other areas of the business.

Due to the nature of the role you may, from time to time, be required to work outside in all weather conditions and it may be necessary to carry out work out with normal working hours.

You will be computer literate and will be required to become proficient in using our maintenance scheduling and reporting software and other company software applications for which training will be given.

The job requires a high flexible attitude to all aspect of work in the section, the ability to work as part of a team and communicate with colleagues is essential.

Applicants must have an electrical or multi skilled craftsperson background with electrical bias and should ideally have previous experience of working on heavy rotating machinery. You will be required to have a minimum vocational qualification (NVQ or SVQ) at Level 3, awarded by an accredited learning provider, or an equivalent craft apprenticeship award.

A full driving licence is essential, and you should reside, or be prepared to relocate within 30 miles of Pitlochry.
