About the Department
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
What is the Role?
As an Electrical Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance and inspection of all plant and apparatus associated with our underground electrical network from LV up and including 132kV. You will be working on all types of Electrical Switchgear, Transformers, Busbars, Isolators and network protection systems
This is a field-based role where your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to; Outage planning, Switching, isolation & earthing at all voltages, the issuing and receipting safety documents along with creating work packs and risk mitigation. To do this you will need strong communication skills ensuring you are able to manage the expectations and needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
This is a very demanding role and will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions. However, this job offers a great grounding in the utilities industry with many of our existing Senior Managers having started out as Electrical Fitters
Training and development will be on offer to get you fully authorised up to 33kV SAP and above for the right candidate. Once qualified you will be required to participate in an out of hours standby duties for fault restoration and expected to work during storms conditions and bad weather events.

What Do I Need?
To be successful in this role it would be advantageous to have the following skills and experience;
- Experience working on electrical networks from LV thorough to EHV.
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical maintenance activities.
- Ability to plan your own work and form part of a team.
- Senior Authorised Person (SAP) permit up to 11kV or above would be advantageous, however not essential as training and development will be provided.
- High regard for safety, embedding yourself in our safety culture is essential.
- Outstanding customer relationship skills, and a commitment to providing a high-level of service.
- Enthusiasm and drive with a flexible approach to work and an ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
- A full drivers licence is required for any applicant to be considered.
