What is the Role?

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible leading and coordinating all electrical engineering deliverables for development and construction of offshore wind generation projects within the SSE Renewables multi-£billion portfolio.

Some of your main responsibilities will include:

- Front-end electrical engineering design works

- Coordinating project engineering works and ensuring correct technical specifications are prepared and applied to offshore wind generation projects

- Writing, reviewing and updating technical specifications for electrical work packages associated with offshore wind generation projects

- Review external contractors and consultants specifications, documentation and power system studies to ensure SSE Renewables requirements are achieved.

- Ensure that project technology choice and design have achieved an optimum techno-economic solution to support the overall project objectives

- The resolution of engineering design issues within the package, and escalation where appropriate

What do I need?

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with specialist knowledge gained from a background preferably working on offshore wind generation projects. You will be a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Engineering Council or working towards this goal. You will have strong technical knowledge and experience of renewable electricity generation including technical knowledge of offshore wind power systems and their operation.

As an experienced engineer, you will have working knowledge of appropriate engineering legislation and industry good practice. You will possess excellent report writing skills and an understanding of effective organisation capabilities to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales. You will have a strong understanding of commercial awareness in order to understand implications of engineering activities and decisions.

You will pride yourself on your excellent organisational skills and ability to deliver the highest quality of work within the necessary timescales. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at various managerial levels within the business and be part of a large electrical engineering team within the SSE Renewables Engineering & Innovation team.
