About the Department
SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.
What is the Role?
You'll be responsible for contributing to the development and execution of the SSE Enterprise Contracting business vision and strategy and will have direct responsibility for all facets of the Contracting Large Projects business across the UK, while reporting into the MD for Contracting and Rail within SSE Enterprise.
You'll also be responsible for identifying effective optimal delivery, operational and customer services solutions. This will see you delivering profit to the P&L through effective and rigorous management of these solutions including procurement, project management, engineering, service delivery and operational profit. You'll be accountable for the P+L of Large Projects and will contribute to the development and implementation of business strategy with policies and practices, while working alongside the Contracting Leadership Team.
What Do I Need?
To be successful in this role, you'll have significant experience in a senior management position, with knowledge of key contracts and SSE Contracting customer/client base. You'll have an awareness of the Company's activities, objectives and procedures as well as a considerable breadth of experience of contracting services activities.
An extensive knowledge of the M&E Contracting sector including Private Finance Initiatives would be highly desirable. Additional beneficial experience would include; strong Health & Safety knowledge, extensive commercial / contractual risk management experience, knowledge of and experience in financial planning and control methods, a relevant project management qualification or experience of managing projects in a complex environment, breadth of working knowledge of Contracting project and portfolio products, experience of managing suppliers in a contracting environment, proven people management skills in order to direct and drive, management of a delivery function in a contracting business at a senior level and finally an ability to navigate relationship management in international territories.
As an individual you'll have; an ability to speak/present with authority and represent SSE Contracting across industry forums, strong presentation and written communication skills, an ability to influence and guide at all levels, strong interpersonal skills as the role interacts across broad areas of the business and at multiple levels, an ability to read the energy contest, excellent team development and motivation skills (empowers others, provides encouragement), an ability to manage and implement change, strong negotiation skills with external clients and internal relationships and be able to stay calm under pressurised conditions.
