About the Department
At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
What is the Role
You'll produce a coordinated and coherent detailed design for new cable routes, new overhead line schemes, network refurbishment, plant replacement and network alteration on the LV to 33kV networks. This will include planning, managing, monitoring and coordination of health and safety in the pre-construction phase.
You'll also need to ensure the network is constructed robustly and cost effectively whilst eliminating health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction. You will liaise with customers, land agents, local authorities and SSE colleagues to achieve a fit for purpose design.
What do I need?
You'll need to have knowledge of CDM regulations and experience of working with the NRSWA code of practise. You should have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work quickly, accurately and independently whilst under pressure. You will have strong negotiation and influencing skills, excellent written and oral communication and a willingness to develop. You must have the flexibility and a willingness to assist other team members. You should demonstrate the ability to make innovative and effective business improvements.
Finally, you'll have technical knowledge and experience in design for new cable routes, new overhead line schemes, network refurbishment, plant replacement and network alteration on the LV to 33kV networks.
