You will also assess the potential role for demand in decarbonisation, flexibility and wider developments in the GB electricity market.

In particular, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a "bottom-up" model of GB electricity demand taking account fundamental drivers such as the economy, weather, technology and energy policy. You will also lead representation on demand issues with internal and external stakeholders regarding developments in government policy, regulatory change and network charging arrangements.

The main outputs will include presentation of forecasts, recommendations for tariff setting and policy response and internal and external advocacy through a combination of discussions, reports and presentations.

What do I need?

Ideally educated to degree level in a STEM, or Economics discipline, or with an equivalent level of experience gained within an industry, or economics environment. You should have an understanding of the fundamental drivers of electricity demand, electricity market economics and policy mechanisms, as well as experience of economic, or business analysis. It would also be beneficial to have experience of managing a team, participating in public working groups and influencing external bodies.

A keen and inquisitive problem solver, you will be numerate and comfortable with a flexible approach to data gathering and use. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are vital as well as strong written, visual and verbal communication. You will have good MS Excel skills with the ability to interpret and develop numerical models, while experience with other specialist analytical tools would also be beneficial.

You should have the confidence to manage stakeholders at all levels of the business and be able to clearly explain the basis of your analysis. You will be a pro-active, self-starter with the ability to organise and prioritise your teams workload under your own initiative to meet strict deadlines. You'll be an accurate worker with a keen eye for detail and, in addition, you should be comfortable working in a close-knit team within a fast-paced environment.
