What is the Role?
We are looking for a Data Network Engineer to join our operational team to support the UK wide data network which provides mission critical services to the SSE group and external commercial customers.
The role will primarily involve provisioning of customer services also supporting and implementing project support requests which includes out of hours changes. You will also provide tier 3 support to the 24/7 NOC including fault finding of services and the network.
What do I need?
As the Data Network Engineer, you will be a motivated individual who keeps abreast of industry developments and innovation. Ideally you will have come from a Telecoms background and have experience of Nokia ALU, however, Cisco experience will also be considered too.
To fulfil this role, you will be a strong team player, be able to prioritise workloads and demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills.
It is essential that you have experience of the following:
- Configuring Ethernet L2 services such as VPLS and EVPNs
- Experience in basic router configuration configuring OSPF, MPLS, RSVP and LDP
- Full product knowledge in the 7750 SR product family and the 7210 SAS SX whilst using NSP including NFM-P (5620 SAM)
- Troubleshooting commands and be able to troubleshoot faults
- Analysis and reporting on network performance
It would also be advantageous if you possess experience of L3 Ethernet ISP services and Nokia NRS, MEF and Cisco qualifications (CCNA or CCNP).
