What is the Role?
Due to significant growth, The SSE Enterprise Telecoms division is currently recruiting for Electrician/data installer to join our Civils, Fibre and Structured Cabling Team, we have brand new opportunities enabling you to work on one of the largest telecoms and data centre networks within the UK. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a variety of tasks predominately in the north of the UK working out of the one of our key offices, for both internal and external clients.
Reporting to the Contracts Manager/Site Technician, you will be required to undertake a variety of tasks for both internal and external clients throughout the UK, adhering to and promoting the company's core safety values at all times. This will include the installation of small power circuits, installation of various electrical and data containment systems and installation of various cabling systems, including data communication and telecommunications cabling.
You will be required to be a member of the reactive callout team which will cover 1 week in 3, responding to and managing various issues and faults across the country so flexibility is a must for this role.
What do I Need?
You should be qualified to the current IEE Wiring regulations (BS7671/18th edition) or to City and Guilds 2330 Level 2/3. Experience of sub-station works would be desirable, experience in structured cabling copper/fibre optic systems, experience or a willingness to learn new skills in civils and fibre supervision would also be an advantage when applying for this role. However, for the correct applicant appropriate training will be given. A full UK Driving Licence is vital. As safety is our number one priority, you must be confident to act on your own initiative in all situations.
It would be advantageous if you have experience covering the following:-
- Be able to write, receive and review work packages, safety documentation and relevant drawings to allow the person to undertake the various tasks to completion of the project.
- Ability to work as part of a Team on Larger projects and as an individual on Smaller projects.
- Confident in liaising with clients, sub-contractors and suppliers as and when required.
- Have the experience, knowledge and confidence to solve on-site day to day issues within the scope of the project.
- Demonstrate the ability to use a PC/tablet to receive / send, emails, photos, drawings and other relevant documents.
- Carry out on site daily risk assessments / site inductions / vehicle and plant check sheets / HAVs.
- Assist with the completion of Site audits and safety briefs
- Having an understanding of the roles and responsibilities within the CDM regulations
- Qualified IEE Wiring regulations (BS7671/18th edition) or equivalent
- A confident communicator
- Experience in Sub Stations
- A Full driving licence
