What is the Role?

Reporting to the Head of Group IT Shared Services, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day physical management of SSE's Data Centres, Business Continuity locations and on-premise hosting locations (including Contract and Supplier management), ensuring the operation conforms to established performance and quality standards which support the overall strategy of the SSE business.

You'll utilise your knowledge of Data Centres from build of operation and ongoing maintenance, ensuring the stability of the site. You'll also be accountable for managing an off-shore and on-shore resource, to maintain the data centre infrastructure and plan, including hardware and cable management, to ensure the successful operation of multiple locations in compliance with international best practice.

You'll also demonstrate the ability to refine and develop processes to optimise operational excellence in every area of your role.

What do I need?

In this role, full understanding of all Data Centre environment management processes, infrastructure, design and IS027001 compliance are essential. This includes knowledge of Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management and Service Asset and Configuration management. Strong technical or functional experience in a similarly complex environment is also advantageous.

You'll also need to have strong stakeholder management experience, with both internal teams and external vendors, and the ability to effectively manage suppliers. This will also require excellent communication and influencing skills to ensure the best results for SSE and our customers. You should be experienced in the procurement of related assets (e.g. cables, racks, monitoring equipment, etc), therefore commercial awareness is required.

You'll also demonstrate the ability to refine and develop processes to optimise operational excellence in every area of your role.
