About the Department

Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.

What is the Role?

Reporting to the Facilities, Fleet, Logistics & Compliance Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the Region is commercially compliant through their facilities and compliance with internal standards, legal and regulatory requirements. You will implement a programme of planned preventative maintenance across the property portfolio (internally and externally) to protect building and asset conditions, whilst ensuring safety as the number one value.

You will work in conjunction with other stakeholders such as Corporate Property, assisting them to undertake the appropriate Facilities Management works ensuring all activities are delivered within a defined capital expenditure budget providing value for money on all activities. You will coordinate and monitor all legal and regulatory compliance vehicle returns to ensure Regional standards are met, ensure the Regions (c. 350 driving staff) Permit to Drives are in date and fit for purpose and ensure all tools are calibrated and within their lifespan.

Customer service will be a key focus of this role and you will drive a customer-led productivity and performance culture for all staff. This will include responding to emergency events including severe weather as required and ensure that all team members are similarly available to respond as appropriate to their role and as defined by their contract.

What do I need?

You will have previous experience in a facilities management and/or compliance role or industry and have a basic understanding of how a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) operates. Excellent diary management/organisation and interpersonal skills are a necessity for this role and you will have the ability and knowledge to engage at all levels and instil a high performing culture. You will comfortable to challenge and hold the line when appropriate and will be happy to work either as part of a team or alone.

Relevant operational / technical experience and knowledge and a sound business and technical knowledge of electricity distribution or similar market sector is also key.
