What is the Role
As a Control Room Technician within SSE Renewables, you'll be responsible for real-time operation and plant alarm handling of our renewable generation assets, while maintaining all safety, operational and compliance requirements.
Specific responsibilities of the role include the safe release and return of wind turbines, monitoring and reacting to alarms and events, and dispatch of generating plant to instruction. You'll play a key role in ensuring the safety of our site-based staff. In addition, you will maintain information around plant availability to support effective operational forecasting. As this is a shift position there will be a requirement to work on a rota system, therefore, you should be flexible and able to commit to a 24/7 shift pattern.
What do I need?
To be successful in their role, you should be qualified to a minimum an HNC level in an engineering discipline or have relevant industry knowledge and experience. A genuine passion for the industry is essential as is strong attention to detail, self-motivation and the ability to manage your own workload. Experience of generating plant and/or HV/LV systems and authorisation under the Operational Safety Rules/Wind Turbine Safety Rules will be an advantage, although in-house training will be provided. You should have strong IT skills and the ability to be a flexible team player.
