Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
What is the Role?
We are currently recruiting for a Wayleave Officer (Delivery Support) to ensure that connections projects are delivered through excellence by obtaining consents to achieve the detailed construction design for cable routes, overhead lines and substations.
Your responsibility is to source the relevant standardised legal licences and consents, to deliver connections to meet customer and relevant third-party needs. Youll also drive consenting quality and productivity to meet customer requirements. Furthermore, you'll ensure the most appropriate and cost-effective solutions are selected for execution or providing consent design requirements into ITTs and reviewing tender returns.
As Wayleave officer you'll be responsible for negotiations with landowners and occupiers to obtain necessary planning and environmental permits. This provision will be for both connections and any reinforcement works associated with the connection at voltages up to and including 33kV.
This role involves liaising with customer, stakeholders and delivery staff to ensure consistent communication throughout the consenting process. You'll have a passion for customer service and push for rapid cycle times for compliant consents in order to maximise Broad Measure incentives, Time to Connect and ICE rewards. This includes evaluating routes and escalating change control for re-quote routes to appropriate Project Managers, Team Manager and Connection Quoters.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, you'll have a relevant qualification or equivalent business experience with significant practical experience in agriculture, forestry, surveying or the delivery of significant distribution or transmission projects within the electricity industry.
You'll have a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework relating to Networks business and Wayleaves as well as the current statutory processes for Planning; Environmental; Conveyancing; Valuation; Ecology. Knowledge of Distribution Networks and Power Distribution electrical operation and construction, from low voltage up to 33kV, as per ESQCR is also important.
You'll also have a thorough understanding of overhead line; underground cable and substation consent and construction requirements. Sound knowledge of Supplier Relationship Management to source, deploy and manage external suppliers including managing contracts to meet KPIs and agreed targets is essential to the success of this role.
We are also looking for someone who is familiar with contract management, produce design deliverables for invitations to tender and analyse tender returns.
Strong people skills are essential as you'll be coaching and developing the knowledge of Trainee Wayleave and Delivery Project Managers. Communication skills both written and verbal are important as is the ability to empathise and work with others to get the job done.
The ideal candidate will also have strong commercial negotiation skills in dealing with external stakeholders, customers, landowners and suppliers.
General computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft office is needed.
