About the Department
Our in-house SSE Legal function operates across the SSE Group to ensure business actions and behaviours are aligned to business priorities, are legally sound, and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, responsibility and ethical behaviour. We identify and rationalise legal risk, providing advice on both regulatory and statutory obligations, all whilst helping the business to achieve their strategic goals.
What is the Role?
We are seeking to recruit a Commercial Solicitor to join our legal team based in our Dublin office with corporate and commercial experience or relevant transferable skills. This role has a particular focus on SSE's renewable energy projects in Ireland, including offshore and onshore wind, and therefore, ideally, candidates would also have property experience or have had exposure to the property/planning requirements for infrastructure or energy projects.
Reporting to the respective Head of Legal, you will be responsible for providing legal advice to a variety of stakeholders with varying needs within the Irish businesses including in respect of joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, construction, strategic business projects including project finance, land agreements, planning requirements and general commercial agreements.
What do I need?
The essential skills and experience you will bring to this role:
- Qualified lawyer with circa 0-3 years PQE;
- An understanding of the legal and commercial issues that are pertinent to the Irish businesses and the energy market;
- Experience in drafting and negotiating general commercial agreements;
- Property experience or a familiarity with the property and planning aspects of energy projects would be beneficial;
- A passion to work as part of a high performing team, sharing knowledge, best practice and supporting colleagues;
- Proactive and pragmatic approach to giving legal advice and support in a clear and concise manner.
