What is the Role?

Due to growth a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Operations Manager to join our Civils, Fibre & Structured cabling team, helping us to manage the full life cycle of fibre, civils, data and electrical infrastructure projects within the UK.

Within this role you will lead the delivery of all projects agreed along with other Operations managers in accordance with company procedures, industry regulations, and best practice methodologies. Managing the resource of managers and supervisors, you will ensure all projects are equally supported. As an experienced Manager, you may at times be required to undertake a management role, in and out of region, for large customer orders or large capital projects, supporting both your managers and that of other areas across the business.

With excellent stakeholder management and customer service skills, you will build and manage strong relationships with customers both pre and post order, obtaining an understanding of their needs, sharing experiences, providing guidance, delivering regular project updates and managing the acceptance process. You will maintain and develop technical expertise and knowledge in the area of Telecoms technologies, positioning yourself as a source of expertise in the delivery of these projects, to provide advice and guidance to colleagues.

With strong commercial acumen, you will be responsible for the CAPEX assigned to the projects. You will develop and encourage your team to implement processes to manage project finance effectively, accurately forecast revenue collection and report on spend. As the Team Manager, you will be responsible for providing the Head of Fibre and Civils / Telecoms Leadership Team with regular updates about the status of projects and financial delivery. You will also provide monthly Gate reports for review at the Leadership Gate Review Meeting.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role you must have a strong understanding of CDM requirements and all relevant legislation. You will have knowledge of Fibre optics and different optical technologies, with an understanding of the theory and principles of Fibre technology. Dealing with Local Authorities, understanding time scales for implementing works procedures/applications and HAUC standards are essential. You will have a relevant project management qualification or experience of managing large complex projects and have experience of writing tenders and tender responses to win business. Primarily this is a Team Manager role and people management experience and the ability to mentor and develop Project Managers is essential.
