About the Department
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
What is the Role?
As Civil Project Engineer, you'll define engineering basis of design and scope, as well as validating and verifying the engineering design, construction and installation within a specialist technical discipline for assigned projects.
You'll provide civil engineering support across multiple projects including creating outline designs during development phases including site/route selection, ground investigation specification, earthworks design, concrete design, access assessments, public road upgrade and landscaping for proposed assets.
You will develop scope of works and detailed specifications, you'll support site teams to ensure quality of installations. As well as this you will also evaluate tenders and scope, procure and manage specialist services.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role you will have a degree in appropriate engineering discipline (preferably CEng or working towards this) or the equivalent experience of Energy or Networks industries are preferable.
You will have strong technical knowledge of industry standards and specifications, and technical specifications, and how to determine applicability of relevant standards as well as an in depth understanding of CDM Regulations.
The ability to communicate complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner to facilitate decision making by senior management is needed and ideally experience using Infraworks would be advantageous.
You will have the confidence and ability to guide work, including outputs, to inform relevant audience and ensure critical technical matters are prioritised. Strong problem-solving skills are also required to develop structured risk-based solutions to address key issues.
An approachable individual who is thorough and demanding in seeking solutions/results with great written and verbal communication skills are required.
