About the Role

Base Location: Fort William, Oban, Lochgilphead, Dunoon. Perth or Dundee may also be considered.

Salary: £38,073 - £55,653 + car or cash allowance + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

The main purpose of this role is to project, manage and deliver multiple wide-ranging capital investment projects within South Caledonia Region on distribution networks up to and including 33kV. All projects are to be delivered safely on scope and within allocated timescales and budgets. You'll take on the role of key duty holders which could include Client, Designer, Principle Contractor depending on the nature of the project. You would be responsible for teams of engineers, craftsman and contractors and you'll ensure they have the skills, qualifications, tools and materials to deliver.

You will be responsible for;

- Actively promoting a positive safety culture on your projects, ensuring all company and operational safety rules and procedures are observed by staff and contractors ensuring all relative safety legislation are adhered to including, representing the relative CDM Duty holder responsibilities on behalf of the Business.

- You will be expected to be/become a senior authorised person, safely operating on our underground and overhead networks up to and including 33kV. This will include switching, safe isolation and earthing, issuing safety documentation, testing, and commissioning of apparatus.

- You will manage the delivery of multiple projects in a safe and efficient manner meeting allocated scopes, quality standards, timescales, and budgets.

- Assess and manage relationships with external stakeholders on your projects such as statutory bodies including, but not limited to, SEPA, SNH & Historic Scotland as well as internal stakeholders within SSE including SHET , RTS , Wayleaves, Procurement, Network Operations Centre ( NMC ) and SSE Enterprise Groups.

- Ensure all projects have a clear delivery programme, Delivery of projects using internal resource when possible, which should be managed and programmed efficiently to maximise productivity while meeting key project deliverables. Work with regional framework managers to procure resources as necessary, ensure contracts are awarded fairly adhering to the procurement guidelines set out by SSEN.

What do I need?

To excel in this role, you'll have detailed knowledge of design, construction, commissioning and operation of electrical plant and equipment. You'll be fully conversant with company safety rules, procedures and relevant codes of practice whilst carrying out detailed technical studies and reports. With proven expertise in site, project, and contractual management, you'll have a detailed knowledge of Construction Regulations.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- SSE Operational authorisations for switching, issuing safety documentation and testing on both underground and overhead networks up to and including 33kV.

- HNC in an Electrical Engineering Discipline.

- SMSTS, SSSTS, IOSH or other suitable safety management certification.

- Full UK Driving License.

- Experience in managing projects.

- Experience in working on power distribution networks.
