About the Department
Energy Customer Solutions is the face of SSE to our customers in GB and Ireland, providing leading and reliable B2B services as well as leading retail solutions for our B2C customers.
The Main Purpose of the Role
The Business Planning Manager is responsible for Business Planning services to successfully support the delivery Customer Solutions strategy and programme work.
Key responsibilities include supporting the workforce planning process; monthly / quarterly Management Reporting and KPIs; supporting Governance and assurance requirements across the business; provision of reporting; and the development and implementation of best practice Business Planning processes.
What is the Role?
Responsible for demonstrating safety leadership and promoting a positive safety culture. Support Business units in achieving safety targets and implementation of SHE Plan through working with Corporate SHE team to ensure that SHE metrics, KPIs and reports are accurate, meaningful and up to date and that actions are closed in a timely fashion.
Support the budget review meeting with the leadership team to ensure there is robust challenge and final agreement of the budget.
Review of monthly business performance to meet the agreed annual budget, highlighting and mitigating any performance variances.
Work with finance and procurement & commercial leads to ensure that the business units have appropriate financial reporting and review processes in place to ensure accurate tracking and challenge of annual financial performance.
Responsible for ensuring the correct data is provided to group as part of management reporting and annual reporting requirements.
Program lead key cross Customer solutions initiatives eg Sales Academy, Energy Ambassadors as agreed at the Exco and provide thought leadership on key aspects of the Customer Solutions Exco.
Support MD in development of her external "Brand" working with key stakeholders across the business.
Support the MD Customer Solutions with the monthly preparation and timely submission of business management packs including a consolidated view of management papers.
Prepare commercial and Customer Solutions commentaries for internal reporting to group and external where appropriate.
Program manage the Customer Solutions strategic implementation plan milestones
Ensure that MD Customer Solutions has the correct governance procedures in place across her responsibility areas to fully discharge duties as Customer Solutions MD.
Set up frameworks linking with the SSE Group and ensure implementation and execution and monitoring at a Customer solutions level. Examples of success include GDPR/ Shadow boards/Audit Committees
What do I need?
- Knowledge or appreciation for working in a Customer focused industry where there is broad variety of challenges to meet and deliver.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand how our business operates.
- Experience of change management and organisational development.
- Significant experience of project and performance management.
- Ability to demonstrate strong and effective leadership and communication skills.
- Highly developed stakeholder management skills including engaging, influencing and negotiating to develop effective relationships.
- Enthusiastic and motivated with capacity to operate under own initiative.
- Excellent problem solver with an analytical mind and good attention to detail.
- Ability to interact at all levels of the Project team and build strong working relationships.
- Can develop and maintain a positive working atmosphere, motivating peers and junior staff.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
