What is the Role?
The Business Assurance Lead - NI Gas holds responsibility for providing internal business expertise, ongoing monitoring and business guidance on all Business Assurance, Regulatory, Data Protection, Process Compliance and Operational risk related activities within the business.
You will hold responsibility for analysing, developing and maintaining a risk, process and control framework appropriate to the NI gas business, in line with SSE internal policies and procedures. You will ensure that the risk, regulatory and statutory environment facing the business is reviewed and collated on our risk register, with risks assessed and appropriate risk mitigation measures identified.
You will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of any required changes to business processes and customer communications within the business as a result of new Regulatory or statutory requirements.
You will be responsible for assessing, measuring and improving assurance & compliance throughout the business operations, including commercial sales. You will audit REMM submission data from the business for non-financial reporting elements and ensuring accurate information is presented. You will undertake continuous improvement reviews of our policies and processes, our various Codes of Practice and other customer engagement communications. Your role will involve collaboration with cross functional teams to support the effective and compliant delivery of their activities, and support adding value to our business activities.
You will work closely with Operations and Regulation teams within the wider business and will represent the business in various internal and external stakeholder engagements. Our future plans include the appointment of an Assurance Analyst who you will manage to support the delivery of Assurance activity.
What do I need?
You will have experience relating to the implementation & monitoring of Regulatory compliance and business assurance, developing and maintaining strong business control and risk management frameworks. You will have the ability to understand the breadth and detail of Regulatory and statutory obligations & implementing appropriate processes and procedures into an organisation to meet these evolving requirements. You will also bring a commercial perspective as to how these obligations can impact the business economically.
You will be responsible for project managing Regulatory change within the business, ensuring new obligations are embedded into processes and procedures.
Furthermore, you will have a proven track record of providing relevant assurance insights through stakeholder reporting, you will provide Managers, Advisors and employees guidance and expert advice on best practice.
