What is the Role?
SSE Renewables Hydro operates and maintains over 1000MW of Hydro Generation and associated infrastructure, with our Operations and Maintenance Teams being responsible for the operation and maintenance of our Hydro Generation assets.
The multi-disciplined team in the Tummel West Section are accountable for the day to day operation, maintenance and repair of our Hydro Generation plant to ensure it is kept in a safe and efficient state.
As Auxiliary Plant Attendant, you will assist in the safe operation and maintenance of the Hydro Generation fixed plant and associated water catchment area. You'll be responsible for routine work which involves maintenance and inspections at power stations, dams, buildings, civil catchments and plant, as well as assisting the maintenance team to carry out minor repairs and maintenance.
You'll carry out routine checks and help to keep all our premises and fixed plant to a high standard of cleanliness and operational effectiveness, whilst communicating effectively with other team members and report operational defects as they arise. You'll also be accountable for carrying out risk assessments, environmental and safety inspections and will receive training to operate fixed Generation plant.
What do I need?
We are looking for a practical person who has the ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively, as you will be interacting with the public and people at all levels of the business
You'll have some basic trade skills and be able to demonstrate some knowledge of civil maintenance works including ditching, road repairs, building maintenance and general repairs. Ideally, you'll also have previous experience of civil works.
Due to the nature of the role you must be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions and it may be necessary to carry out work out-with normal working hours when required. Computer literacy is a must, and you'll be required to become proficient in using our maintenance scheduling and reporting software and other company software applications for which training will be given.
A full valid driving licence is essential, and a first aid qualification would be advantageous.
Applicants should ideally reside or be prepared to relocate to within 30 miles of Tummel Bridge.
