What is the Role
SSE Hydro Generation operates and maintains over 1000MW of Hydro Generation and associated infrastructure. Our Operations and Maintenance Teams are responsible for the operation and maintenance of our hydro generation assets.
The multi-disciplined team based in Foyers / Great Glen Section is responsible for the day to day operation, maintenance and repair of our Hydro Generation plant to ensure it is kept in a safe and efficient state. As Auxiliary Plant Attendant, you'll assist with the safe operation and maintenance of fixed plant and associated water catchment area.
You'll also be accountable for routine work, involving safety inspections and checks in power stations and on dams, hill catchments and the maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment at various sites within the Great Glen area. You'll conduct routine checks and help to keep all our plant and premises to a high standard of operational effectiveness and cleanliness, whilst carrying out environmental inspections and train to operate Generation plant.
What do I need?
As a practical person, you'll be capable of working as part of a team and communicating effectively, as you will be interacting with the public and people at all levels of the business. On occasion, there will also be the requirement for you to work with other teams in other areas of the business.
Having basic trade skills and suitable experience, you will have a good knowledge of maintenance works which could include, working with and operation off mechanical plant and industrial equipment, electrical or civil related building maintenance. Previous experience of site work, legislation and familiarity with the risk assessment process is an advantage.
Due to the nature of the role, you may, from time to time, be required to work outside in all weather conditions and it may be necessary to carry out work out of normal working hours when needed. You must be computer literate and you'll be required to become proficient in using our maintenance scheduling and reporting software, along with other company software applications for which training will be given.
The job requires a highly flexible attitude to all aspects of work in the section.
A full valid driving licence is essential, and a first aid qualification would be advantageous.
Applicants should ideally reside or be prepared to relocate to within 30 miles of Foyers.
