SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.
What is the Role?
Within the Portsmouth area we deliver Electrical Maintenance and Projects for our contract customers. We currently have an opportunity for an Approved Technician to join our team. Working on existing client contracts, you'll be able to demonstrate competency in various types of industrial and sensitive commercial installations as well as any necessary servicing and maintenance work without immediate supervision in a safe, efficient and economical manner.
Your role will also involve commissioning and testing electrical systems and equipment, issuing relevant certifications as required and setting out jobs from drawings and specifications. You must therefore be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of Electrical systems operating principals and ensure compliance with the current edition of BS7671, Construction Industry Safety Regulations as well as SEC/SSE policies and procedures.
What Do I Need?
To be successful, you'll have completed your Electrical Apprenticeship and will have achieved an NVQ Level 3 (or approved equivalent) in installation and/or servicing/maintenance work or will have obtained a pass in the City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2 or 2351 or 2330 levels 2 and 3 (or approved equivalent). In addition, you'll have a thorough working knowledge of Industry Codes of Practice, relevant British Standards and Construction Industry Safety Regulations and have obtained Achievement Measurement 2. The role includes supervision of contractors so SMSTS or SSSTS is essential to safely supervise on site works. A full working knowledge of electrical safe systems of work is critical to deliver a safe working environment where you'll be responsible for a delivering a permit to work system.
A full UK driving licence is vital for this role as well as a passion for safety and the ability to work well in a team as well as independently, the role involves travelling within the South & South-west region.
